Dr. Wood has more than 30 years experience in energy systems research, development and demonstration. He is a fellow of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Dr. Wood was a founding member of the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) and served as the executive director until 2005.

Dr. Wood has been the principal investigator for more than 55 projects funded by US DOE, State of Arizona, State of Nevada, ASHRAE, NSF, Public Utilities, and Industry. He has supervised the research of 57 MS and 19 PhD students. His research has been reported in 125 publications and numerous research reports. He has supervised more than 300 energy assessments with energy conservation recommendations for schools, public buildings and manufacturing facilities.
